Bridgerton look!
Elsheeba Paul - 21PYY10
The famous series on Netflix ‘Bridgerton’ has
an iconic style. While you might tune in for the romance, Bridgerton’s fashion is an inspiration
for modern fashion lovers fresh style in the form of fanciful and elegant looks.
Everyone surely thought about the love stories and romance but it was the
fashion that left us infatuated. Every outfit worn by the rich 19th
century families were fancy and delicate. The gowns brought out a more feminine
look than one could ever think of and the men looked majestic and royal. From colourful cap sleeve day dresses to dazzling ball gowns
and tiaras, the Bridgerton wardrobe department never disappoints a true fashion
diva!
Daphne Bridgerton:
Tulle Lavender Gown
Daphne the eldest daughter always remained
true to her sweet style. Her gloves were made oflace and her gown was made of
lightweight tulle fabric, in the entire season this is one of the gowns that
looks really subtle. She even wears a simple neck piece and earrings that match
the lavender gown.Throughout the season I found Daphne as a very naive
character. The light coloured gowns symbolise her straightforward behaviour and
her innocence.
Debutante Look
The first season entirely revolves around
Daphne's debutante season, which brings me to mention her gorgeous gown. With a
gold embroidered train and puffed cap sleeves, the Queen herself called Daphne ‘flawless’
which she definitely was.Her hair was neatly braided into a ‘crown braid’.
Speaking of crown braid, I’m reminded of the time when I used to visit my
cousins house, she’d always try different hairstyles on me. My personal
favourite is the crown braid that she does. It gives me a sophisticated feel!
Anyhow nothing close to how Daphne looked. She even wore a golden tiara which
made her look confident.
First Ball Look
Daphne was entitled as "diamond of the
season," and for her first ball
literally dressed in diamonds. Her gown was flashy, detailed with sequence. She
looked flawless in an empire waist, tulle, diamond-embroidered cap-sleeve gown.
As her gown was glittery enough she wore simple white satin gloves.
Black-Accented Look
She wore a black oversized velvet bow in her
hair, which perfectly compliments her matching sash around her waist. She
adjourned herself with the diamond necklace from the prince.
Eloise Bridgerton:
Satin Gown
Though Eloise has a boyish character, she very
well dresses like a women. For her debut in episode one, sheworea classic
all-white gown—and an attention grabbing feathery accessory in place of a
tiara, as Daphne wore in season one. Her fringes cutely covering her
forehead, one cannot avoid the fact that she can be the next show stealer.
Debutante Presentation Dress
Eloise wore to the debutante presentation a
more understated dress than her older sister. She definitelycan pull out a
simple and elegant look. I loved the ruffled detailing with lace details that
run throughout the dress and pink silk sashes and bows. The look isn’t complete
without the pretty flower on her head that compliments her dress.
Opera Dress
While chatting with the Queen at the
opera, Eloise strays from her normal
style. She wears a yellow floral deep scoop neck gown with a silver taffeta
shawl and white dinner gloves.Yellow flowers on her hair along with a beautiful
diadem.
Edwina Sharma:
Pastel Beaded Dress
In season 2
we are introduced to Edwina Sharma who is comparatively more innocent than
Daphne. She mostly wears pastel coloured gowns to compliment her skin tone. Her
sweet pale pink gown from the first episode of the season looks quite simple,
but her jewellery is quite heavy.
Kate Sharma:
Teal Gown
Kate’s longing for teal dresses perfectly went
hand in hand with Anthony Bridgerton’s slew of blue suits throughout the series. She
wears a simple gown with a waist belt fitted high.
Hunting Look
Her velvet blue dress perfectly matched with
her teal jacket, a colour she frequently wore throughout the season. Her
attire doesn’t finish there, a matches a top hat which looked venturesome.
The Featherington Family:
Gilded Frocks
The Featherington family initially started the
season off strong with a series of bedazzled golden frocks, abstaing from their
normal yellow colour scheme. Their pride as a family is visible in the way
the dress, trying to always portray themselves rich and glossy.
The Featherington Sisters:
Ball Gowns
Philippa and Prudence Featherington wore Gowns
that were detailed with embroidery. What’s a gown without the touch of flowers
in their dress? I haven’t forgotten to mention that throughout the season they
always were complex gowns and bright jewellery. Both the sisters were a tiara matching
their gown above their curly hair.
Penelope Featherington:
Orange Printed Dress
Penelope Featherington's or should I say Lady Whistledown's
orange printed dress stood out as equally bold and chic. Being the youngest in
the Featherington family she doesn’t dress much like them. She topped her curls
with a red peony.
Garden Party Look
While everyone else decked out in bright
dresses, Penelope opted for a more modest look in a blush floral dress with
chiffon puffed cap sleeves, lace detailing and a big flower on the top part of
her gown. Her hands were covered with pink polka dotnet gloves.
Pastel Yellow Dress
There's a certain elegance to her light yellow
brocade fabric dress. She paired it with a stunning statement necklace looking
always like herself.
Strolling Dress
Penelope wore this anomalous outfit for an
afternoon stroll. Her gown was embroidered with flowers from the bust level
till her puff sleeves and a waist belt with a flower made of yellow net in the
front. The mustard silk shawl, a yellow feather headpiece, and pink polka dot
sheer gloves made it stand out.
Queen Charlotte:
Rosy Ball Gown
Queen Charlotte can never be outdone. Her shimmery
show-stopping embroidered layered ball gown was the star of the show at the
first ball of the season. She wears aheavy and stunning necklace paired
with beautiful earrings and also wears two bracelets over her white satin
gloves. Credits to her tall wig which makes her easily noticeable.
Yellow Ball Gown
She wears a rich gown sewed using yellow
taffeta and silver brocade bustled petticoat while attending an event with the
Duke of Hastings and Daphne Bridgerton. The crown is majestically placed above
her wig.
Lady Danbury:
Icy Ball Gown
Daphne’s diamonds were nothing compared to Lady
Danbury outfit which totally stole the show in this silver gown encrusted in
diamonds paired with an elaborate tiara, necklace, and neck piece. On top she
wore a coat with a high collar that made her look powerful.
Dinner Party Attire
Mostly red and purple wardrobe throughout the
series is how she dresses herself. Her gown is velvet burgundy with a wide boat
neck and a taffeta shawl was worn by her which made her look elegant. She wears
this to the Bridgertons for dinner. She wears red gloves to cover her hands.
Marina Thompson:
Yellow Lace Dress
At the beginning of the London season Marina
Thompson created quite an entrance. During her stay with the Featheringtons,
she wore colourful frocks, just like the rest of the family. She wore a yellow
embroidered empire waist dress with a delicate tulle lining and a pearl set to
go along with it.
Casual Day Dress
A very simple dress, probably the most simple
in the entire series! Her floral blush dress looked too comfortable! It looked
like something we’d wear today! Her hair was messily clipped with a bow.
Out-of-Town Look
Marina Thompson and Portia Featherington's
trip outside of Mayfair is not exactly what I would call cheerful, but her pink
velvet hooded cape and blush empire waist dress which has a slit right from the
middle certainly are.
The Duke:
Paisley Vest
Simon effortlessly brought our affinity for
men's vests back to life. In a scene where he confides in Lady Danbury, he wears
a paisley brocade vest against one of his signature black button-downs. His
vest has beautiful patterns yet it looks so manly!
Anthony:
The de facto patriarch of the Bridgerton family.
Upon Anthony’s broad shoulders rests the fate of his family’s legacy. A tailcoat
jacket, paired with a high-collared white shirt is his signature look that
captures the attention of every young women.
Colin Bridgerton:
Understated Ball Look
The youngest in the Bridgertonfamily Colin didn't have much scenes to act at the
beginning of the season, but his silver brocade vest and white silk bowtie
certainly caught our eye almost making him look like a prince. His hairstyle
looked like the shabby hairstyles teenagers long to have today.
